Demu is an artist who explores character design and illustration through digital media. Using Photoshop and their love for CD Projekt Red and Dungeons and Dragons, they illustrations, lore and world building projects heavily focused on fantasy. They produce a variety of relatable narratives, mostly revolving around personal experiences. With inspiration from Lovecraftian lore, Hidetaka Miyazaki’s, and Segawa’s works they explore a fascination with Eldritch horror, creating artworks and stories that involve surreal and exaggerated imagery of the human body.
Demu Byers is a digital artist working primarily in 2D illustration and animation using Adobe Photoshop and Clip Studio Paint. Originally from Panama City, Florida, they graduated in 2019 as a BFA candidate from the University of West Florida with a focus on Digital Art.
They have exhibited work in the 2017 Spring Semi-Annual POP-UP, and the 2018 Fall Semi-Annual POP-UP Exhibition at the Center for Fine and Performing Arts at the University of West Florida. They have been awarded a $500 grant from the Office of Undergraduate Research in Pensacola, Florida and the 2017 Cassis Artist Residency in Cassis, France.
